Coaching Applications

Please consider making yourself available for a coaching position on one of our teams. All applicants are given careful consideration and coaches are needed at all levels.

Criminal Record Check

Any coach/assistant/safety person who has contact with the players on a regular basis, requires an up to date criminal record check to be on file with SOMHA.

The application for the CRC and VPC is required upon initial appointment, or upon the individual reaching the age of 18, and maintaining the position is contingent upon the results of the checks coming back satisfactory to the Association.

All information will be disclosed to the Registrar of the South Okanagan Minor Hockey Association.

On ice Helpers

All on ice helpers must complete a Criminal Record Check, Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders and the Concussion Awareness Training for Coaches.

Team Manager

All team managers must complete a Criminal Record Check, Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders and the Concussion Awareness Training for Coaches.

Team Safety Person

All team safety people must complete the Hockey Canada Safety Program online course, in addition to a Criminal Record Check, Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders and the Concussion Awareness Training for Coaches.

Head Coach and Assistant Coach

In addition to the required coaching course for the level they are involved, all coaches must complete a Criminal Record Check, Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders and the Concussion Awareness Training for Coaches. If you are unsure what is required, please contact your division director or the registrar.

Equipment Provided

You will receive the following items from your Division Directors.

Official Team Roster, League Game Schedule, Game Sheets, Jerseys, Goalie equipment (pre-novice and novice), Medical Bag and Pucks
